How APG started?

My name is Kana. I set up Autistic Peer Group with my hope to give a sense of belonging to my fellow autistic students in January 2019.

I am autistic and advocate autism for myself, autistic peers and those who lovingly support us. I am a third-year PhD student at the Centre for Research in Autism and Education (CRAE) at UCL Institute of Education, investigating loneliness in autistic adults. APG started from my desire to give a sense of connection and belonging to autistic students whilst at UCL. As I set up this group, I hoped that autistic students feel more supported and cared for by getting to know other autistic students and sharing their university life together (in times of celebration, hardship and all). I hope this group continues to serve its founding purpose!

"Two are better than one..." (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)
